About Our Remedial Massage

Remedial massage, also known as deep tissue massage, is performed by a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist who will assess your body and tailor a treatment plan to your specific needs.

Following injury, or due to everyday stresses, muscles can become damaged, tense, knotted or immobile. Remedial massage not only provides treatment on a specific injury or problem area, but also considers contributing muscles and postural imbalances causing dysfunction. Our aim is to aid the body’s own healing process, reduce pain and promote relaxation & well-being.

When a sequence of relaxing strokes and glides to help you “feel good” is not enough, Remedial Massage steps in.

With Remedial massage, knowledge of anatomy and physiology is further utilised, combined with manual therapy techniques to help decrease pain, improve range of motion, assist in injury prevention and improve your quality of life.

Manual therapy techniques include:

  • Deep tissue massage
  • Sports specific massage & stretching
  • Myofascial release (MFR)
  • Trigger point therapy (TRP)
  • Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD)
  • Positional release technique (PRT)
  • Muscle energy technique (MET)
  • Active release technique (ART)

Stretches, corrective exercise prescription and/or self-massage techniques will be provided at the end of your treatment for you to take home and continue the recovery process.

In order to best tailor your most effective treatment plan, the following pre and post massage testing is available:

  • Health history review (initial consultation)
  • Physical assessment
  • Range of motion testing
  • Special orthopaedic & functional testing
  • Gait & biomechanics analysis

Assessment time for one or more of the above will be included in your treatment time booked, to ensure the “hands-on” time is most effective in meeting treatment goals. At minimum, all treatments will always begin with a physical assessment, and finish with re-assessment to evaluate treatment effectiveness.
